First egg from the new chickens🥚
We had our first egg this morning from Ginger and the gang, the eggs are so tiny when they first start to lay! Here it is next to one from Clucky’s coop

A Nugget Moment!
Starting to Mingle
We need to start integrating the new girls with Clucky & the crew but want it to be a calm gentle experience for all of them. Borrowed an idea from YouTube and put our mini run into the middle part of our 3 chicken areas, cutting a small opening from the little one’s end. They can now visit the big girls, and interact a bit but still be safe. Had a couple of meetings with Clucky & Scramble, then Hetty (whose lost her blue ring!) decided to showcase her balancing skills!
Bedtime update
We left the back of the coop open this afternoon and when we went to check the chickens at dusk one of the little ones had gone into the coop by herself 👍🏻🐓 We had to pop the other 3 in but hopefully they’ll get the idea now🤞🏻 4 eggs from Clucky & the crew today🥚🥚🥚🥚 go chickens!!
What a lovely sight!

Bath time
We took the poly cover off some small tunnels and put chicken wire on for an instant run extension! Whilst Clucky & the crew were out exploring Ginger & the girls decided it was bath time. They burrow down into the dirt then flick it over themselves and into their wings then have a good shake!
Exploring
We wanted the new girls to be able to explore the whole of the chicken run area so we made a temporary run in one of our poly tunnels for Clucky & her girls. They all seemed to enjoy their change of scenery though Clucky and the others made a bid for freedom as we were moving them back!

Settling in

It’s all so strange
When Clucky & the crew came to us they had already been to one home and then returned to the breeder so we re-homed them. Ginger and the girls have come to us from the breeder so it’s new territory for us. The older girls had taken themselves up into their coop at dusk last night but the new ones were still wandering around, we decided to leave them for a while to see what they did. When we checked them a few minutes later they were huddled up together in the corner of their run😕 so we popped them in the coop. This morning they were unsure about coming out, we put the wooden ramp from our first coop onto the plastic ladder and put some feed on the steps, that encouraged them very cautiously to come out – though as you’ll see Lofty was still not sure!
Exploring their new home
Ginger & friends arrived today here’s our first glimpse of them
Looking forward to the new arrivals
The new Eglu coop is ready and waiting in the extension to the chicken run. We’ve put a gate in to keep the two groups separate to start with and we’ll introduce them for short periods after they’ve settled down for a week or two. Big Thank You to Louie for choosing names for us they are Ginger, Flossy, Scramble & Lofty. Well done Louie we think they’ll love their names👍🏻

👀 Work in progress 👀
👀 We have recently set up this blog and are going through our camera rolls adding things but backdating them to when they happened, not when we post them online, so remember to keep scrolling down to catch new blog posts of previous events 👀
Eglu building
Putting together a new Eglu coop for the chickens that are arriving soon. As you saw from the previous video our girls were very keen to help! The soundtrack is Clucky, we think she’d recently laid an egg and was standing on the ladder clucking away for ages, this clip is 1min 11secs, that was all I recorded but she’d started before I began recording and continued after I’d finished! Some celebration 🐓🥚
Omlette helping put together a chicken coop!
And Puppy came too!
Puppy decided Clucky and her pals weren’t the only cute things around here and felt he should have a category too so here he is showing that he finally understands how we play ball!
Egg Tally Update
With a wonderful 🥚🥚🥚🥚 today they have now laid 200🥚 since they arrived, Go Girls!🐓🐓🐓🐓
